Q What makes Daneswood special?
A Daneswood offers specialist care designed to meet each individual’s needs; a well trained staff team who believe in approaching the care of each individual in a holistic way; a beautiful location and environment; an individual program of activities designed to meet that person’s needs and a healthy, organic, wholefood diet.
Q Do you accept people with severe aggressive challenging behaviour?
A There are times when our clients may become frustrated due to them being unable to communicate their wishes effectively and may become aggressive; but we would not accept a referral for a client who has a history of unpredictable aggression to others, some of our clients have profound and multiple learning disabilities and would be vulnerable if place with such individuals.
Q how is a placement at Daneswood funded?
A It is the responsibility of a clients local Social Services Department and Primary Care Trust to fund residential placements. You will need to request a Community Care Assessment from your Social Worker.
Q Are you able to cater for special diets?
A Daneswood aims to provide a healthy organic, wholefood diet for all clients; we will try to accommodate any other specific diet requests.
Q Is there a point when a client may have to leave Daneswood?
A Essentially no, Daneswood aims to offer a home for life, the time when a placement may need to be reviewed is if someone’s needs change dramatically for example they require long term nursing care.
Q How much contact will the clients have with parents and families?
A Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time, although a phone call is advisable first, especially if travelling any distance as we expect all our clients to have a program of both off and on-site activities. Regular contact with families will be encouraged in a variety of ways including letters, cards, emails and phone calls as appropriate. Daneswood is fortunate to have extra accommodation on site which can be booked by families who either live a distance away or wish to spend more quality time with their relative.
